Capturing Moto One

Moto One is my yearly project where I photograph custom bikes, driven simply by the love of these unique machines.

Each year, I visit custom bike shows, meet owners, and photograph their bikes. It’s not about a big production - just me, my camera, and the bike’s personality. I focus on the details that make each build special. It’s a simple process, but that’s what makes it so rewarding.

Meeting the Owners

At bike shows, I meet builders - from pros to hobbyists - and we dive into their bike’s story.

I chat with owners who’ve spent months (or years!) crafting their bikes, whether they’re seasoned pros or someone who’s tinkering in their garage. Each chat is a glimpse into their journey - why they built it, what it means to them. These stories shape how I photograph each bike, because it’s never just about the machine - it’s about the person behind it.

Planning the Shoot Together

We kick things off by discussing what makes the bike unique and how we’ll bring that to life.

Each shoot begins with a conversation. We chat about the character of the bike, and from that, we build our plan. Together, we shape how we’ll capture its essence, making sure the final images reflect their passion and vision.

Capturing the Bike

Shoot days are always fun and my favourite part of the process - there’s a real energy when I get to work directly with the owners.

We take the time to set up in a way that feels natural, letting the bike’s character shine. I work with them step by step, fine-tuning each shot so we capture the right mood.

From Shots to Showcase

After the shoot, I take a methodical approach to the editing.

I carefully review each image, selecting the ones that tell the strongest story. Then, I go through a step-by-step editing process - refining colour, contrast, and detail - until each shot is as precise as possible. From there, I lay out the final selection for the book design and produce high-quality prints. Each piece is a carefully crafted visual, built to last both in the book and on the wall.
