PROJECT CONTEXT

Uber needed a careers experience that could communicate the scale, energy and diversity of its global workforce while making opportunities easier to discover.

The project focused on reimagining Uber Careers as an immersive global platform that could bring the employer brand to life while supporting candidates throughout their journey.

Rather than creating a conventional recruitment website, the ambition was to build an experience that encouraged exploration — connecting people, culture, locations and opportunities within a flexible digital ecosystem.

CHALLENGE & STRATEGY

The challenge was to balance rich employer storytelling with intuitive job discovery, without allowing one to compromise the other.

Candidates needed the freedom to explore what working at Uber could mean for them, while still being able to move naturally towards relevant opportunities.

Our approach centred on candidate-led exploration, using content, interaction and motion to create multiple routes through the experience. This allowed Uber's stories and culture to become part of the journey rather than simply content surrounding a traditional job search.

ROLE & LEADERSHIP

I led the digital design direction, shaping the experience from its initial creative principles through to detailed design and delivery.

My role spanned UX, visual design and interaction, establishing the design direction while remaining closely involved in the detailed execution of the experience.

Working alongside senior and digital designers, developers and motion specialists, I guided the work through production, reviewed implementation and helped ensure the ambition and quality of the original design remained intact through to the finished experience.

"OUR GOAL WAS CLEAR: CRAFT AN HONEST JOURNEY THAT IMMERSES TALENT IN UBER’S CULTURE, INSPIRING THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO STEP FORWARD."

DESIGN & EXPERIENCE

The resulting experience connected storytelling, exploration and job discovery within a single flexible digital system.

Content was designed to work as part of the navigation experience rather than as a collection of isolated destinations. Candidate interests created natural pathways between employee stories, culture, locations and relevant opportunities.

Interaction and motion added energy and encouraged discovery, while a responsive design system ensured the experience remained consistent and engaging across desktop, tablet and mobile.

IMPACT & OUTCOMES

The new experience encouraged significantly deeper engagement while maintaining a clear pathway from exploration to application.

The new experience encouraged significantly deeper engagement while maintaining a clear pathway from exploration to application.

Average session duration reached 5:57, an increase of 495%, while pages viewed per session increased 20% to 3.43. The experience achieved 70.1% engagement, with a 17.36% apply click rate.

Together, the results demonstrated that candidates were actively exploring more of Uber's employer story while continuing to progress towards relevant opportunities.
