CLIENT OVERVIEW

Empowering Small Businesses Through Connected Financial Technology

Xero delivers cloud accounting solutions designed to simplify how small businesses manage their finances. By bringing together data, payments, and applications into one connected platform, Xero helps businesses streamline operations and make better decisions. With a global presence and a people-first approach, they continue to redefine how financial tools support everyday business needs.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Designing a Careers Experience that Connects Talent with Small Business Impact

Xero was keen to create a careers experience that truly connected talent with their mission of empowering small businesses. The objective was to bring to life how every role contributes to the success of entrepreneurs globally, making each candidate feel part of a larger purpose. By focusing on personal narratives, clear career progression, and a sense of innovation, we crafted a platform that not only showcases Xero’s impact but also inspires purpose-driven talent to join and grow with the company.

DESIGN LEADERSHIP, AND EXECUTION

Adding Playful Interaction to a Purpose-Led Experience

For this project, my role focused on shaping a career experience that felt engaging and reflective of Xero’s collaborative culture. Working closely with the client, I guided the design direction through key discussions and reviews, ensuring alignment with their ambition to show how every role contributes to a wider purpose. Alongside this, I partnered with the design team to develop key layouts and interaction patterns, while coordinating with development and motion to bring these ideas to life.

A key contribution was introducing a personalised cursor interaction - subtly reinforcing the idea of candidates becoming part of a connected, active environment and adding a distinctive layer of playfulness to the experience.

“A layer of play transformed the journey - making the experience feel more human, connected, and engaging.”

CLIENT OVERVIEW

A More Expressive, Interactive Experience That Brings Xero’s Culture to Life

The final site delivers a more expressive careers platform that balances clarity with personality, giving candidates a deeper sense of what it’s like to work at Xero. Interactive elements, motion, and storytelling are used to create a more engaging journey, encouraging exploration while keeping the experience intuitive and easy to navigate. The introduction of personalised interactions adds a distinctive layer to the experience, reinforcing the idea of belonging and participation. Alongside this, improved structure and clearer content pathways support better discovery of roles, teams, and ways of working - resulting in a more engaging and memorable candidate experience.
